Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan witnessed Wednesday the signing of a number of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs).
Sisi arrived in Ankara this afternoon on his first official visit to Turkey since assuming the presidency, at the invitation of Erdogan, who received him upon his arrival at the airport.
The two leaders held a discussion session, followed by an expanded meeting between the delegations of the two countries.
Among the cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding that they witnessed was the signing of an MoU with Turkish Polaris to develop an industrial zone in the New Administrative Capital.
The two presidents also witnessed the signing of a contract to allocate a plot of land as part of the development of an industrial zone in the 6th of October area.
An MoU was signed between the Egyptian Competition Authority and the Competition Authority of the Republic of Turkey in the field of competitive policy, signed on behalf of the Turkish side by the President of Turkish Competition Authority Birol Kule and on behalf of the Egyptian side by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty.
Sisi and Erdogan also witnessed the signing of an MoU for cooperation in the field of higher education between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Higher Education Authority in Turkey, signed on behalf of the Turkish side by the President of the Council of Higher Education Erol Ozvar and on behalf of the Egyptian side by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty.
Sisi and his Turkish counterpart witnessed the signing of an MoU to improve cooperation in the railway sector between the Egyptian National Railways Authority and the Turkish Railways.
Another MoU was also signed between the Civil Aviation Authority of Egypt and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Turkey. It was signed on the Turkish side by Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, and on the Egyptian side by Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The two presidents also witnessed the signing of an MoU for cooperation in the field of information and communications technology between the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. It was signed on the Egyptian side by Abdelatty and on the Turkish side by Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.
The two presidents also witnessed the signing of an MoU for economic, scientific and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture between the Egyptian and Turkish governments. It was inked by Abdelatty and Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli.
In addition, an MoU was signed for cooperation in health and medical sciences between the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population and the Turkish Ministry of Health.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Egyptian Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Development Agency and the Turkish Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency. It was signed on the Turkish side by Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kaxcir and Abdelatty.
An MoU was also signed for cooperation and capacity building between the Egyptian Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It was signed on the Turkish side by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and on the Egyptian side by Rania el Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation.
