CAIRO – Egyptian Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk has stressed the importance of Arab co-operation and integration to achieve agricultural development.
Cooperation is particularly important in terms of food security, Farouk said in a meeting with Director General of the Arab Organisation for Agricultural Development Ibrahim al-Dukhairi Monday, pressing for action to increase the exchange of goods and agricultural products among AOAD member states.
The meeting took up means of boosting co-operation between the Agriculture Ministry and AOAD. Farouk said this should include training and honing skills of cadres, as well as conducting researches and studies in the fields of agriculture and food security.
The minister also said that action is needed to reduce the negative effects of climate change on the agriculture sector.
Dukhairi said he is keen on boosting co-operation with the Ministry of Agriculture, noting that the AOAD aims to develop ties among Arab countries in all agricultural activities.
