The 35th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs kicked off on Sunday under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah El Sisi.

The two-day conference, which is held under the rubric of “Role of Women in Building Awareness”, aims to underscore appreciation for women and highlight their role in building the family, the society and the nation.

Over 60 delegations, including more than 100 ministers, muftis, and scholars from across the world participate in this prestigious event.

The conference aims to highlight the important role played by women in building cultural and religious awareness.

Minister of AwqafOsama el-Azhari said that the woman is the key to success in life and the stability of homelands.

Speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, el-Azhari said that the Qura’n unequivocally shed light on the stories of women, including Sarah, Hajar, and Maryam the daughter of ‘Imraan.

The minister said also that Islam raises the status of women and protects their rights.

He further stressed that the Palestinian women show a lot of persistence in life, adding that theyhave endured the bitterness of losing a brother, father, and son, and are still building generational awareness for the sake of homeland.

The conference also focuses on the women’s role in building the family and their role in promoting the values of coexistence and peacebuilding, he added.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Grand Mufti Nazir Ayyad has said that Islam views women as a responsible part of society as they play a vital role in caring for families and raising children with proper principles.

Ayyad also highlighted the significant role of women in promoting Islamic teachings and offering guidance.

The Grand Mufti, during the opening session of the Conference, said that today’s meeting underscores the firm belief in the importance of women and the commitment of institutions to empowering them for cultural and social development.

He explained that Islam emphasises complete knowledge and proper awareness in the foundation of civilisational and societal progress in life.

Also, he praised Islamic law for the liberation and dignity of women and commended rural Egyptian women for raising awareness among generations that contributed to national duty, calling for following their example in promoting religious and national principles.

He highlighted the role of Dar al Ifta in issuing fatwas that accurately reflect the true image of Islam, provide religious guidance, and address contemporary issues.

He urged women to actively participate in religious and national duties and to promote a sound religious message.

Furthermore, he called forrecognisingEgypt’s unique approach to building societal awareness, emphasising that true development requires awareness, particularly through the role of women. He also praised the sacrifices of Palestinian women for their homeland.
