Also, NFSA participated in the rehabilitation programme of the date filling stations in the New Valley governorate to comply with the food safety requirements in co-operation with the Export Council for Agricultural Crops and with the support from Assessment and Inspection of Food Businesses (TAIB).

A number of field visits have been carried out to date at stations and gathering centres to monitor the obstacles faced by workers in the sector during the period from 4 to 7 August.

NFSA highlighted in its report that the General Administration of Factories Control carried out 105 supervisory inspections of food factories nationwide.

Beans topped the list of exports at 12,000 tonnes, followed by sweet potatoes and onions at 10,000 tonnes for each, and types of exported vegetables reached 70.

Mango and strawberry exports were in the lead with 10,000 tonnes each, followed by citrus fruit at 6,000 tonnes.

Sudan, Syria, Libya, and Saudi Arabia were the biggest customers for Egyptian products out of 150 importers.

Russia, followed by Ukraine, Romania, France, and Brazil, were the biggest exporters to Egypt.

The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 57 products, eight companies, examined 804 new products, and issued 8 free sell certificates.

Complaints Management carried out 1025 inspection campaigns to ensure the safety of food in a number of governorates.

Control of Commercial Chains has conducted 70 commissariats to ensure that their branches meet the requirements of food safety.

490 food establishments were registered, and 295 establishments met the requirements during last week.

The Warehouse Control Department implemented 26 monitoring missions in a number of governorates.
