The ministry of housing has completed the design of the service centres for 317 municipalities due for upgrading within the presidential ‘Decent Life’ rural development initiative, a government minister announced Thursday.
Minister of Housing Assem el-Gazzar added that the service centres would be complexes where the local residents can submit paperwork and conduct administrative affairs.
The first phase of the presidential rural development initiative would include the upgrade of 51 rural centres in 20 governorates, el-Gazzar said.
The project is implemented and supervised by the ministry of housing and the armed forces engineering authority.
The service centre design is based on a field study of the needs of residents in each municipality, the minister said.
Mahmoud Nassar, head of the Central Urbanisation Authority, an affiliate of the Ministry of Housing, said centers would offer prompt services through a one-stop system.
