LUXOR – Governor of Luxor Engineer Abdel Moneim Emara stated that Egyptian-Chinese relations are deep-rooted and longstanding, noting that Egypt was among the first countries to recognize the People’s Republic of China in the 1950s.
This statement was made during the governor’s reception of Shen Haixiong, a member of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Chairman of China Media Group, and its Editor-in-Chief, along with his accompanying delegation, to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, the governor provided a detailed presentation explaining the touristic, archaeological, agricultural, and industrial assets of the governorate, welcoming the member of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and his accompanying delegation.
For his part, Shen Haixiong praised the ancient Egyptian civilization, stating that Luxor is a beautiful city that receives a large number of Chinese tourists annually. He highlighted that Egypt and China are friends with a long-shared history, noting the similarity between ancient hieroglyphic writing and ancient Chinese script. He also mentioned that Luxor has cooperation and twinning agreements with several Chinese cities.
At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged commemorative shields and gifts that represent the civilizations of both countries. Following this, the Governor of Luxor, accompanied by the Chinese delegation, visited the Luxor Museum of Modern Art to participate in the launch of the “Journey Through Civilizations” exhibition.
