Biden’s exit reshaping US presidential race

US President, Joe Biden, pulled out of the presidential race, a development that has rocked the American political arena.

This decision will likely have significant ramifications for the Democrats, in particular, and political life in the US, in general.

Biden’s withdrawal comes at a time of growing internal and external challenges in the US. The economic fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as domestic political tensions continue to severely affect the US.

The toll these developments are having is perhaps what prompted Biden to step down in his bid to put an end to the political rifts his candidacy produced.

However, Biden’s withdrawal is expected to have its negative consequences for Democrats. It is a clear sign of internal divisions and political tensions within the Democratic Party, which could negatively affect its unity and ability to effectively match Republican nominee and former president, Donald Trump.

Speculation is rife about Kamala Harris’s ability to win the upcoming presidential elections. She is the first woman and the first person of South Asian descent to serve as US vice president.

Harris has secured the support of enough Democratic delegates to become her party’s nominee against Trump. If she succeeds in mobilising broad support inside and outside her party, she may have a real chance of defeating the former US president.

Choosing Harris as a potential presidential candidate may boost the Democratic Party’s unity and attract more support to it.

Biden is an adept politician who enjoys popularity among Democratic voters. Nonetheless, Harris has a greater chance of winning the elections. She is well liked among ethnic groups and young people, a woman who enjoys a strong personality and has clear positions on issues of public concern.

Trump finds himself, meanwhile, in a contradictory position after Biden’s exit from the presidential race. His election campaign depended basically on Biden’s physical and mental frailties, especially with the incumbent president reaching the age of 81.

Over the past months, Trump’s campaign also relied on playing up Biden’s bizarre behaviour and stuttering speech.

It is important to consider the challenges Trump may face in the run-up to the elections. The Republican nominee is badly in need of a new marketing strategy to emphasise his advantages. He also needs to formulate a good plan to deal with expected rivalry from the new Democratic nominee.

Trump needs to re-evaluate his strategy and perhaps even revise it entirely, especially with Biden’s withdrawal giving him the chance to draw in conservative voters who used to support Biden.

It is important to note that Biden’s exit from the presidential race is a historic event that could change the dynamics of the upcoming presidential elections in the US.

While everyone wonders about the potential effects of this withdrawal on the American political scene, the main question is how Trump will take advantage of this opportunity.

We have to wait and see how events will unfold in the coming months and whether there will be more surprises as the Americans prepare to go to the polls.
