CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Irrigation Hany Suwilam discussed with Housing Minister Sherif el-Sherbini a number of issues of mutual interest and means to boost co-operation between both ministries in addition to the operation of potable water stations.
The talks also tackled measures to guarantee providing needed amounts of water for citizens during summer.
Both ministers asserted their keenness on co-operating in all issues of mutual interest to present better services to citizens.
They also followed up the implementation and operation of water desalination stations in coastal areas and asserted continuous coordination to increase the benefit from the available water resources.
The ministers reiterated the necessity to localise the industry of the elements used in water desalination and use the latest techniques to reduce water desalination cost in Egypt.
They also reviewed means of conducting a study on reducing water salt to use it in planting of some crops.
They asserted taking all necessary measures to avoid pollution of sewage water, highlighting the importance of coordinating with the Environment Ministry to develop and establish water treatment units in the factories to count on water recycling in the factories with an aim to limit water consumption and decrease the environmental impacts on water resources.
