Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli underlined the new government’s keenness on securing availability of all types of goods in the markets, intensifying efforts to control prices and having suffice strategic reserves of basic goods to confront any emergency.
During the second meeting the prime minister held Thursday to follow up on efforts meant to secure availability of all goods and control markets – following the announcement of the formation of the new government – the prime minister thanked the former minister of Supply for strenuous efforts made over the past period to secure availability of all strategic commodities, especially amid unprecedented challenges.
Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk took part in the meeting.
Madbouli said, “I made sure that the first meeting was to focus on efforts to follow up on solving the electricity problem and that the second meeting was to give prior attention to importance of availability of goods and control of markets’ prices.”
The prime minister highlighted need for proactive visions to confront any crisis, in addition to periodic monitoring of markets and global commodity prices.
He directed securing strategic stock of basic commodities to guarantee a quick response in case of any emergency problem or crisis and protect the market against any manipulation attempt.
Madbouli ordered a clear action plan be drawn up with relevant bodies to ensure the availability of goods and products in the markets and control prices.
For his part, the minister of supply said we have already started working on various files on this score, especially those related to providing goods and controlling markets, in cooperation and coordination with concerned authorities.
He pointed out that over the past period, especially since last March, we have been witnessing stability in commodities’ prices, adding that the ministry would continue pressing ahead with exerting more efforts in this respect.
