CAIRO – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke on the phone to former Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry on Thursday and thanked him for his strong leadership and close friendship ties that lasted over many years, with a view to maintaining a robust US-Egypt partnership to address regional and global challenges and foster resilient ties between the American and Egyptian people.
Shoukry was a leader to multilateral efforts meant to deescalate conflict and press for sustainable solutions, Spokesman for the US Department of State Matthew Miller said.
