Carrying on with consultation and close coordination on delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza was a focus of extensive consideration between Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Radi, and the World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director, Cindy Hensley McCain. Ambassador Radi doubles as Egypt’s permanent representative to UN Rome-based organisations.
During the meeting, McCain highly appreciated the Egyptian leadership support and the country’s vital and pivotal role in backing the programme’s humanitarian efforts in this respect.
Referring to her recent meeting with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the WFP chief said she is closely following up with great appreciation, Egypt’s tireless mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, which is imperative to put an end to the humanitarian tragedy in the Strip.
