NAIROBI – International Co-operation Minister Rania el-Mashat underlined integrated efforts with development partners of the European Union, World Bank and UK in light of the government’s economic and structural reforms to promote the participation of the private sector as a key player in the development drive.
Mashat, Egypt’s Governor at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), made the remarks during her participation in the AfDB annual meetings in Nairobi.
Mashat held meetings with AfDB President Dr Akinwumi Adesina, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, Acting Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Waleed Al-Bahar, AfDB Deputy Director General for North Africa Malinne Blomberg, Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah, and Cameroon’s Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development Alamine Ousmane.
Mashat said the meetings fell within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to enhance economic cooperation with development partners,
She added that she had talks with UK Minister of State for Development and Africa Andrew Mitchell on means of promoting cooperation in agriculture and food security domain as well as coordination within the context of an underway program of the World Bank for financing development policies.
Mashat said she also had a meeting with Olivier Pognon, CEO of the African Legal Support Facility, on means of enhancing bilateral cooperation.
