CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli Sunday said that Cairo and Beirut are linked by historic and close relations at all levels, stressing Egypt’s eagerness to promote co-operation with Lebanon in various domains of shared interest.

The premier made the remarks during a meeting with Lebanese Agriculture Minister, Abbas Hajj – at the premises of the government in the New Administrative capital (NAC) – to discuss means of reinforcing co-operation between Egypt and Lebanon in the agricultural sector.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayyed el Qusier, Advisor to Agriculture Minister Salem Darwish, Economic Attache of the Lebanese Embassy in Cairo Nour Attwa alongside Advisor to Lebanese Agriculture Hussien Nasrallah.

Madbouli affirmed government’s keenness on facilitating the entry of Lebanese exports to the Egyptian market along with boosting the trade exchange rate between the two countries, in light of their outstanding political relations.

He reaffirmed Cairo’s unwavering support to Lebanon, in light of the current global economic situation and its consequences on all countries, in particular Egypt and Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese agriculture minister underscored the strength of historic relations between Egypt and Lebanon. Hajj asserted the importance of continuing close coordination between the two countries in files of top priority at the international level, with a view to serving the higher interests of both countries.

He underlined Lebanon’s deep appreciation of the constant support provided by Egypt’s political leadership to Lebanon, adding that the matter is highly appreciated by the Lebanese side.

The premier directed maintaining coordination between the Egyptian and Lebanese agriculture ministries, in order to push forward cooperation in the agriculture domain.
