Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed, via videoconference, on Saturday inauguration of a number of development projects in the South Valley.
The inauguration was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, alongside a number of ministers and statesmen.
Egypt recently witnessed inaugurating a number of important developmental projects in the South Valley, including the first stage of Toshka Farm.
These projects come within the framework of the efforts of the Egyptian state to achieve sustainable development and boost food security.
Inaugurating the first stage of Toshka Farm is one of the most important national projects to make up for the food gap by increasing the agricultural lands with 500,000 feddans to reach one million feddans in the future in addition to increasing the revenues of the available resources, increasing the agricultural exports to reduce the deficit in the commercial balance and providing job opportunities especially for the youth from Upper Egypt.
Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed el Azazi said that in light of the recurrent crises witnessed around the world and their impact on the global food security especially in the developing countries, it is necessary to prioritize food security as it is a main component of the national security.
The state rallied up its efforts to achieve the strategy of sustainable agricultural development as part of Egypt Vision 2030, he said.
resident Sisi inaugurated a project for huge main water lifting stations in Toshka.
Sisi listened to an explanation on these projects from supervisor of the project Tarek el Weshahi who said that two huge main water lifting stations were implemented with a capacity of 11.300 million cubic meters.
The stations provide water needed for planting 100,000 feddans in the second stage sufficient for planting 40,000 to 60,000 feddans in the future, he said.
President Sisi inaugurated wheat harvest season in “Toshka 4” where Agricultural Engineer Mokhtar Gamal Abu Akeel said that the National Company for Land Reclamation and Agriculture planted 500,000 feddans of wheat this year in Toshka.
After that, President Sisi watched a documentary on the development projects in the South Valley and Toshka project.
The documentary pointed out the achievements of the company in Toshka, adding that 400,000 feddans in Toshka were reclaimed and it is targeted to reach 600,000 feddans by the end of 2025 in an unprecedented agricultural leap.
