EgyptAir Hospital becomes first in Egypt to receive TEMOS international certification

The second medical conference of EgyptAir Hospital on medical tourism and digital transformation concluded successfully after two days of sessions. The event was attended by the Minister of Civil Aviation, Lieutenant General Mohamed Abbas Helmy, and Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag Eldin, the Presidential Adviser for Health and Prevention.

During the conference, discussions focused on enhancing Egypt’s position as a leading destination for medical tourism, leveraging its strategic location and world-class capabilities. Egypt’s appeal to health seekers from around the globe was highlighted.

A key moment of the conference was the presentation of the TEMOS international accreditation certificate for medical tourism to Dr. Ayman Salah, Chairman of EgyptAir Hospital, by Dr. Claudia, the founder and CEO of TEMOS International Healthcare Accreditation. This certification makes EgyptAir Hospital the first in Egypt to receive such recognition.

In his speech, Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmy emphasised the importance of the conference in fostering the exchange of insights and expertise in medical services. He highlighted Egypt’s natural and professional resources, underscoring the role of digital transformation in investing in medical tourism. He praised the conference for outlining strategies to promote Egypt as a premier destination for medical tourism by simplifying patient procedures and offering comprehensive medical services to international health seekers.

Helmy noted that the ministry has adopted numerous partnerships and initiatives to implement digital transformation across various sectors, including medical services provided by EgyptAir Hospital. This initiative aims to enhance health services, save time and effort, and reduce costs for service recipients, while also expanding co-operation in different civil aviation activities.

Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag Eldin, in his address, reaffirmed Egypt’s potential in the medical tourism sector, citing the country’s advanced facilities and skilled medical professionals. He noted that Egypt was among the first nations to integrate artificial intelligence across various fields, particularly in healthcare, utilizing advanced diagnostic imaging technologies such as CT, MRI, and ultrasound. He emphasized the institutional and professional excellence of Egypt’s healthcare system, highlighting the qualified medical and nursing staff across all specialties.

Tag Eldin pointed out that Egypt is well-positioned to claim its rightful share of global medical tourism revenue. He praised EgyptAir Hospital’s modern equipment and highly trained staff, which meet international standards. He also recognised the crucial role of EgyptAir, as the national carrier, in attracting more tourists, thus supporting medical tourism.

Dr. Ayman Salah, Chairman of EgyptAir Medical Services, highlighted the hospital’s achievement in receiving accreditation from both the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) and TEMOS. This dual recognition positions EgyptAir Hospital as a high-standard medical service provider and a key player in Egypt’s medical tourism strategy. Salah mentioned the launch of an electronic platform for medical tourism, involving over 27 hospitals, including EgyptAir Hospital, and numerous airlines, led by EgyptAir.

Salah introduced the ‘Pulse’ system, designed to monitor the health of passengers aboard EgyptAir flights. This system provides real-time health support through coordination with the airline’s operations sector and a 24-hour medical operations room at the hospital. In case of any health issues detected during the flight, the system ensures immediate reporting and necessary medical follow-up upon arrival, enhancing the services available to EgyptAir passengers.

Shahinez Ghazi, Vodafone Egypt’s Vice-President for Customer Service, expressed pride in the partnership with EgyptAir, which aims to improve healthcare quality through technological advancements. This collaboration aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030, focusing on modernizing healthcare systems across the nation and using technology to positively impact citizens’ lives.
