Egypt has participated in the opening session of the Egyptian trade mission in the food industry sector in Jordan, represented by the chairman of the Food Safety Authority (NFSA), Dr Tareq El-HOUBY in the presence of a large number of importers in Jordan, a number of neighbouring countries, and 28 Egyptian companies.

El-HOUBY stressed that the Food Safety Authority spares no effort in assisting Egyptian food companies and pushing for an increase in Egyptian exports. Also, there is co-operation with the Export Council for Food Industries and the Egyptian private sector in order to create a suitable environment for Egyptian exports.

He also revealed the full operation of the model plant set up by NFSA in Nuweiba port next month, stressing that the operation of the plant contributes to reducing the time of release of goods.

He added that this helps speed up the procedures for checking food messages both exported and received by the Jordanian market.

He highlighted that the phases of infrastructure implementation had been completed and experimental operations were under way. The plant was conducting analyses of various food and agricultural crops, most notably the analysis of residual pesticides in vegetables, fruit, and chemical contaminants, as well as microbiological analyses in food.

Attended the session Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan Mohammed Samir, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Representation Office in Amman Mona Abboud, Head of the Egyptian Food Trade Mission Alaa El Wakil, Executive Director of the Export Council for Food Industries Mei Khairy, On the Jordanian side, President of the General Food Union of Jordan Khalil El Haj Tawfiq, and Food Director at Jordan Food & Drug Administration Amjad Rashaideh, and General Director of Foodstuff Traders Association Zuhair Harb.
