BAGHDAD – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at Baghdad International Airport on Monday in his first official visit to Iraq in 13 years.
According to Al-Sumaria News Channel, a large and high-level government and parliamentary delegation accompanied the Turkish President during his visit to the country.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani described Erdogan’s visit to Iraq as “not a passing visit,” stating that it will include, for the first time, finding solutions instead of deferring crises.
Meanwhile, Iraqi Government Spokesperson Bassem Al-Awadi said that Erdogan’s visit to Iraq will mark a very significant starting point in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
He said in statements to the Iraqi News Channel, “Iraq and Turkey will sign a strategic agreement covering water and agriculture. He added that Iraqi Prime Minister will announce the establishment of a special fund with Turkey for a long-term plan, the content of which includes Turkey’s contribution to establishing major projects in Iraq.
