CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli witnessed on Monday, at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, the signing ceremony of a co-operation protocol regarding the design and implementation of activities to support and enhance governance in the healthcare sector in Egypt. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and the Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Saeed.

Signing the protocol were Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Governance and Technical Affairs Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Executive Director of the National Institute for Sustainable Development Governance Sherifa Sherif and Medical Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office and Secretary-General of the Medical Affairs at the Cabinet Hossam El-Masry.

The protocol outlines the areas of co-operation between the three parties, which include joint support for human development processes for workers in healthcare institutions and sectors. This involves the National Institute for Sustainable Development Governance designing and implementing activities related to human capacity development and providing consultancy services to healthcare institutions and sectors in governance and good management fields, as well as promoting the culture and concept of governance and development within the framework of implementing the Sustainable Development Strategy in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

On the sidelines of the signing, Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Governance and Technical Affairs, highlighted the extensive experience of the Ministry of Health and Population in planning and implementing capacity-building activities for healthcare workers, emphasising the ministry’s reliance on highly efficient human resources and training, and affirming the ministry’s readiness to contribute effectively to enhancing the capacities of healthcare workers.

On her part, Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Sustainable Development Governance, emphasised the importance of the institute’s role in promoting the culture and concept of governance and good management, as well as training and qualifying workers in both the public and private sectors in all fields, in addition to enabling employees to efficiently and effectively manage resources.

Meanwhile, Hossam El-Masry, Medical Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office, pointed out that the protocol strengthens the efforts of the Medical Affairs Secretariat at the Prime Minister’s Office, which works on monitoring and responding to citizens’ medical concerns, providing necessary medical care and interventions in coordination with ministries, civil society organisations, and relevant authorities.
