CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed over the phone with his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide conditions in the Gaza Strip and efforts necessary to contain the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory.
International efforts made to stop the ongoing war in Gazw and the criteria for reviving the peace process, said official spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
The call also touched on various aspects of the deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in the Gaza Strip, and the ongoing efforts to ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, and the latest UNSCR 2728.
They also discussed the need for Israel to comply with its responsibilities as an occupying power, by stopping attacks against the Palestinian civilians, as well as against international relief workers present in the Gaza Strip, in violation of all provisions of international law and humanitarian law.
The two ministers also discussed the risks of Israel’s possible military operation in Palestinian Rafah, stressing their rejection, due to its catastrophic humanitarian repercussions that would further exacerbate the already deteriorating conditions among the residents of Gaza, and would lead to massive loss of life.
The two sides agreed to continue coordination and joint work to reduce the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, contain its repercussions, and discuss ways to provide urgent support and aid to the residents of the Strip.
