Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Thursday presided over a meeting to review the ongoing efforts to maximise the added value of minerals extracted from the black sand in the country.

The meeting was attended by Director General of the National Service Products Organisation (NSPO) Staff Maj Gen Walid Abul Magd, Advisor to NSPO Staff Chief Maj Gen Mokhtar Abdullatif, Chairman of the National Animal Production Company Maj Gen Mohamed Salah, Chairman of the Egyptian Black Sand Company (EBSC) Maj Gen Magdi el-Taweel, Dr Walid Mehrez, from the Nuclear Materials Authority, and CEO of vaccine manufacturer MEVAC, Magdi el-Sayed.

The meeting reviewed the map of the economic minerals found across the nation, and their industrial applications, in addition to various projects being carried out by the EBSC in partnership with foreign expertise, as well as their economic feasibility and investment costs.

President Sisi directed the concerned officials to scrutinise studies on the project to maximise the added value of the economic minerals extracted from black sand, and to apply governance to all its aspects in order to realise the main objective of exploring the potential opportunities of the country’s natural resources, Radi said.

Meanwhile, the meeting also reviewed the executive situation of the establishment and operation of veterinary vaccines producing factory. In this regard, the meeting dwelt on the animal production market in Egypt, vaccine producers, besides the proposed form of partnership with the private sector.

President Sisi gave orders for the immediate start of the localisation of veterinary vaccines manufacturing technology, as part of the state’s strategy to offer protection to the animal wealth against epidemic diseases, in addition to achieving self-efficiency in the field, Ambassador Radi noted.
