The researcher Mahmoud Abdel Rahman Mahmoud was bestowed a Master Degree of Arts with distinction from the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Mansoura University, in recognition of his scholarly achievements.
Titled “The Doctrinal Foundations of Peace between the Divine Religions: A Comparative Analytical Study”, the scholarly work delves into the pivotal role of peace within religious doctrines and divine laws, elucidating how the belief in Allah and the Last Day serves as fundamental principles for fostering harmonious coexistence among adherents of different faiths.
In light of prevailing intellectual and sectarian tensions, the thesis underscores the significance of religious institutions in advancing peace. Notably, Chapter four examines the role the Council of Muslim Elders under the leadership of Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayeb, the esteemed Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, plays in spreading a culture of peace and promoting peace in societies.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, this council stands as a prominent entity dedicated to the propagation of peace through various international forums, conferences, and initiatives such as “peace convoys.”
Its collaborative endeavors with renowned religious establishments globally, including the historic “Document on Human Fraternity,” underscore its pivotal role in fostering global harmony.
Additionally, the study acknowledges the contributions of institutions like the Al-Azhar Center for Dialogue and the King Abdullah Center for Interfaith Dialogue in advancing the cause of peace.
