Social media users spoke last week about red pins that appeared at the 96th Academy Awards representing Artists4Ceasefire, five months into the Israeli aggression in Gaza; Egypt agreeing to Liverpool’s request to leave Mohamed Salah out of their squad for their upcoming March internationals and Lionel Messi signing a contract with the Saudi brand Sayyar, becoming its ambassador.

Red pins in Oscars to call for ceasefire in Gaza

Eye-catching red pins appeared at the 96th Academy Awards. Several stars, including Grammy winner Billie Eilish and Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo, wore red pins representing Artists4Ceasefire, five months into the Israeli aggression in Gaza.

More than 30,000 people have been killed since the war in Gaza began in October.

The pins feature an orange hand with a black heart inside, surrounded by a red circle.

“The pin symbolises collective support for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of all of the hostages and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza,” the group said in a press release.

Criticism targets Tamer Hosny due to Chipsy advert

Some social media users harshly criticised Egyptian singer and actor Tamer Hosny due to his last “Chipsy” advert.

They criticised him as chipsy is among the products some people boycott as a way of supporting the Palestine case. These products announced support for the Israeli attack in Palestine.

Hosny broke his silence, saying that he supported the Palestine Case for more than 20 years and his contract with “Chipsy” corporate lasts for 2 years, adding that it’s the 3rd advert he appeared in with Chipsy.

Death anniversary of Stephen Hawking

On March 14, 2018, English theoretical physicist, author and cosmologist Stephen William Hawking passed away, leaving theories that changed the perspective of the world regarding the cosmos. He passed away at his home in Cambridge at the age of 76.

He was diagnosed with motor neuron disease ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in 1963. The world famous physicist, best known for inventing a formula in 1974 to measure black hole radiations, now known as Hawking radiation.

Egypt allows Mo to miss March internationals

Egypt agreed to Liverpool’s request to leave Mohamed Salah out of their squad for their upcoming March internationals.

Liverpool submitted a special request to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to exclude Mohamed Salah from their March internationals for fear of aggravating his current hamstring injury further.

Messi becomes face of Saudil luxury clothing brand Sayyar

Argentine footballer Lionel Messi signed a contract with the Saudi brand Sayyar, becoming its ambassador.

The Sayyar brand published a video of Messi posing in traditional Arab men’s clothing.

It is worth mentioning that in May 2022, Messi was appointed as Saudi Arabia’s tourism ambassador. Previously, Cristiano Ronaldo refused this position, despite an offer of 6 million euros per year.
