CAIRO – A dialogue session between Libyan parties called for by Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit kickstarted at the the pan-Arab body’s headquarters in Cairo Sunday with the aim of facilitating Libyan-Libyan dialogue.
President of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohammed al-Menfi, Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh and President of the High Council of State Mohammed Takala took part in the dialogue’s session.
The session – which is being held under the patronage of AL Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit – comes within the framework of the AL’s efforts to bring viewpoints closer between the Libyan parties.
Official spokesman for the AL Secretary-General Gamal Rushdy said the invitation comes within the framework of the AL’s responsibilities towards an important Arab country and at this delicate time in an attempt to get Libya out of a long-standing crisis, the burdens of which have increased on the Libyan citizen, who is seeking to get out of this stifling situation, by neutralizing narrow interests and putting the country’s higher interest as a top priority.
