Egypt’s fencing wins African golds

CAIRO — The Egyptian youth and junior fencing teams succeeded in sweeping the gold medals in the team competitions at the African Fencing Championship held on March 1 through March 7 at the Indoor Halls Complex of the Cairo International Stadium.

The Egyptian teams for sabre, foil, and épée for both boys and girls under 17 years old managed to secure 6 gold medals in the team competitions with a perfect score.

The sabre team for girls defeated the Tunisian team in the final match with a score of 45-29, while the sabre team for boys triumphed over the Senegalese team with a score of 45-19.

The foil team for girls achieved victory over the Tunisian team in the final with a score of 45-37, and the foil team for boys outperformed the Senegalese team with a score of 45-7.

In épée, the girls’ team defeated the Tunisian team with a score of 45-23, while the boys’ team secured victory over the South African team with the same score.
