A hat-trick by Akram Afif helped Qatar beat Jordan 3-1 in the AFC Asian Cup to become the first country to defend the title since 2004, at the Lusail Stadium here on Saturday.
This was the second title for side, with the host winning the title for the first time since 2015, when Australia clinched the trophy. All goals came from the spot for the host, with Afif celebrating his strikes with a magic celebration, dedicated to his wife.
Qatar became the fifth team to win back-to-back Asian titles, in front of 86,492 fans at Lusail Stadium.
