CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held held a session of talks with French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné, who is currently visiting Egypt.
The two ministers held a closed meeting, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on his ”X” account.
“We welcome the French minister on his first ever visit to Egypt,” he said, adding that Egypt values its strategic ties with France and that Egypt looks forward to elevating strategic ties with France.
The meeting, which was held at the ministry’s premises in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), tackled the Egyptian-French ties and ways of boosting them in the various spheres.
They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, topped by the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Séjourné arrived in Cairo on Saturday, on his first visit to Egypt since he assumed his position. The visit is part of a regional tour that includes Jordan, the Palestinian lands, Israel and Lebanon.
