Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received at the al-Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, the candidates who ran in the 2024 presidential elections; namely, Mr Hazem Omar, Chairman of the Republican People’s Party, Mr Farid Zahran, Chairman of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, and Mr Abdul-Sanad Yamama, Chairman of the al-Wafd Party.
The meeting was attended by Head of President Sisi’s election campaign, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
President Sisi welcomed the candidates and expressed his appreciation for their political performance during the electoral process, in a way that enriches pluralism and diversity in the Egyptian political and democratic scene.
“The real success for Egypt is the high and unprecedented voter turnout in the elections, which reflects the great Egyptian people’s awareness of their national responsibility,” President Sisi said.
The candidates, for their part, congratulated President Sisi on his victory and praised the smooth conduct of the elections. They pledged their continued dedication to Egypt and its citizens, wishing the president all success in facing the region’s challenges.
The discussion then turned to national development, with party leaders sharing their visions for the future. President Sisi welcomed their ideas, reiterating his belief that dialogue across the political spectrum is vital for Egypt’s progress.
This meeting serves as a powerful symbol of unity and collaboration. While political competition may be fierce, it can also be a catalyst for positive change when all parties prioritise the nation’s well-being. As Egypt embarks on a new chapter, this moment of reconciliation sends a message of hope for a more inclusive and prosperous future, the president noted.
