A classical Turkish music ensemble of Turkish and Egyptian musicians will be performing in the Small Hall of Cairo Opera House at 8 p.m. Thursday, 14 December.
The performance celebrates the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and the 500th anniversary of the Foreign Service of Türkiye.
Classical Turkish music evolved during the Ottoman period. Ottoman composer Ismail Dede Efendi (1778-1846) was one of the most famous exponents of this genre, which accompanies the rites of the Mawlawiyya, a Sufi order that originated in Konya in the central southern region of the country.
