Air Cairo, headed by Hussein Sherif, one of the companies affiliated with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, announced the opening of new air lines to the cities of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and Dakar, Senegal, starting from December 23, 2023, with two flights per week for each destination.

This came as part of the developmental efforts adopted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation under the leadership of Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy in order to activate the air and tourist traffic coming to and from Egypt to enhance the competitive capabilities of the civil aviation sector at the regional and international levels, and in a way that contributes to the rise of Egyptian economic growth rates.

The launch of new lines in the African continent comes in line with the axes of the Egyptian state and the priorities of its national development agenda to expand its air network and open new points with African countries, and in a way that contributes to activating the incoming air traffic and developing the volume of trade and economic exchange between Egypt and all countries of the world.

The operation of the new lines is also in line with the continuation of the developmental goals adopted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its affiliated companies in order to flow the air traffic coming to Egyptian airports, increase the number of points it reaches around the world to attract more customers and give them a wide range of travel and tourism options and encourage airlines to land at Egyptian tourist destinations.

The ministry also plans to expand its network of lines within African markets in a way that achieves positive economic returns and maximises the utilisation of the new network to achieve Egyptian-African communication and rapprochement through linking the international travel network from African cities with a number of cities in Europe, America and the Far East.

On the level of internal flights, Air Cairo is scheduled to operate 6 weekly flights between Cairo and Sohag starting from December 27, 2023, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. This comes to facilitate travel and encourage investment in the Upper Egypt regions.

The company has taken into account the timing of the flights so that they are in line with the time schedules of the passengers and in a way that achieves integration and linking between the networks of Egypt Air and Air Cairo companies from Cairo International Airport.
