Prince Charles greets new BUE president on assuming post 1 - Egyptian Gazette

CAIRO – UK Prince Charles of Wales sent a message of greetings to the new president of the British University in Egypt (BUE) Professor Mohamed Loutfi on taking up the post as the fifth university president.

 

A a statement released by the British Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday said British Ambassador in Cairo Gareth Bayley conveyed the message of Prince Charles to Loutfi during the presidential inauguration ceremony held at the BUE premises in El Sherouk City.

He said Prince Charles attended the inauguration of the university 15 years ago, the ambassador said, adding that he also greeted the BUE Board of Trustees on the 10th anniversary of founding the university.

Farida Khamis, the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees said: “Professor Mohamed Loutfi was the Board of Trustees’ unanimous choice as our next President and Vice-Chancellor, and I am extremely pleased to welcome him on board. Professor Loutfi’s appointment coincides with a period of rapid expansion and a transformation program to enhance BUE’s position as a
leading university in the region. His proven track record of influencing transformative change and progressive impact will be a real asset to our faculty and students as we meet the challenges of the future. The breadth and depth of Professor Loutfi’s experience in academia will enable him to contribute to the next stage of the development of BUE and strengthen its position as a pioneer in the region.”
