Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Saturday with Tanzanian President Samia Hassan, on the sidelines of the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Dubai.

The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations at various levels, especially with regard to Egyptian investments in Tanzania, technical cooperation and capacity building to contribute to training Tanzanian cadres in various fields, in addition to Tanzania’s benefiting from Egyptian expertise in the field of mega projects, the presidential spokesman said.

Egypt participates in the construction of Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant and Dam in Tanzania, with Sisi confirming in this regard that he is following up on the implementation stages of the project, to ensure achieving the best levels of performance in accordance with the highest international standards.

They also discussed intensifying consultation mechanisms and exchanging visions between the two countries regarding the most prominent emerging issues i the continental arena and ways to enhance joint African action mechanisms.

Egypt and Tanzania would further maximize cooperation between the Nile Basin countries based on the historical legacy and common bonds that unite them.
