Egyptian lawmakers reaffirmed Tuesday their unwavering rejection of attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinians or resolve the Palestinian issue at the expense of neighboring countries.

Speaking during a stormy session of the House of Representatives, one dedicated to an address on the Gaza crisis by Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouli, the MPs announced their full support for the Egyptian leadership.

They also mandated President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to take the necessary measures to protect Egypt’s national security.

“President Sisi has stipulated the Egyptian position on what is happening in Gaza clearly and strongly from the very beginning,” MP Abdel Hadial-Qasabi of the Future Party said.

“Egyptians have also risen up in support of the political leadership as it works to protect the Palestinian issue against liquidation,” he added.

Al-Qasabi referred to an emergency session by the House of Representatives, during which MPs unanimously agreed to mandate the president to take the necessary measures to protect Egyptian national security.

“Egyptians follow developments in Gaza closely,” MP al-Qasabi said.

“They seethe massacres committed against the Palestinians, attacks against women, children, and hospitals, and the painful scenes of the displacement of people from northern Gaza to its south,” he added.

Egyptians, he said, are deeply concerned about all this.

“It is the right of the Egyptian people to know clearly the position of the Egyptian state and its vision,” MP al-Qasabi said.

“Egyptians have the right to hear the government’s response to the fallacies raised by international and Israeli media,” he added.

He highlighted Egyptians’ support to the Palestinian people.

“The deputies of the Egyptian people categorically reject the relocation of the Palestinian people to Sinai,” al-Qasabi concluded.

MP Kareem Darwish, head of the Committee on Foreign Relations in the House of Representatives, described the enforced displacement of the Palestinians as a’crime’ in all respects and according to international law.

“Egypt is a country of peace,” MP Darwish said. “However, it must be noted that Egypt’s national security is a red line that cannot be touched”.

He said Egypt’s population of more than 105 million stands united behind President Sisi.

“Egyptians are ready to sacrifice themselves to protect their country’s territories,” he added.

MP Darwish pointed out that President Sisi was the earliest Arab head of state to warn against the enforced displacement of the Palestinians.

Egypt, he said, announced its complete rejection of this displacement, inviting attention to the only solution to the conflict, namely the two-state solution.

MP Darwish asked, meanwhile, the prime minister to clarify the measures taken by his government to prevent the enforced displacement of the Palestinians, describing Palestine as a major concern for all Egyptians.

For his part, MP Ahmed Fouad Abaza, head of the Committee on Arab Affairs in the House of Representatives, cited what he called ‘conspiracies’ hatched against the Egyptian state.

Egypt, he said, confronts attempts to displace the Palestinians and condemns the massacres and flagrant violations of international humanitarian law committed by the Israeli occupation army.

Abaza voiced support for the Palestinian cause, and full confidence in Egypt’s political leadership.

This leadership, he said, plays a strong role in confronting plots against the Egyptian state, while sending aid to Gaza.

He sent a message to President Sisi by saying: “Egyptians back you fully and stand united in their defense of their country’s territories”.
