Ayat el-Haddad

Member of parliamentary foreign relations committee

As a result of the June 30 Revolution, everyone could share in Egypt’s future. Some people in developed countries had long dream of free elections in Egypt. Today, all Egyptians at home and abroad enjoy the right to vote.

Participation in the elections is a national duty. Every Egyptian expatriate is eligible to vote thanks to the June 30 Revolution.

The process of the legislature adopting the vote of Egyptians abroad is an important step. Towards achieving democracy, the right to vote is a right granted by every state to its people.

Participation in the elections for Egyptians residing abroad, especially youth of the second, third, and fourth generations, also leads to several positive effects, including: consolidating the affiliation of Egyptians abroad, as they are the first line of defence for Egyptian interests.

This also emphasises the unity and homogeneity of Egyptian society, the connection to the land and the family, and the strengthening of democracy in Egypt, and will ultimately lead to positive participation and belonging.

Democracy means the people’s participation in the political decision-making process by competing in free elections.

Participation in elections enhances the value of Egypt and Egyptians not only internally but also externally.

Also, heavy participation enhances stability and consolidates the foundations of the state and gives it strength internally and externally, and gives an image to the outside world that the Egyptian regime is stable and strong.

The participation also affirmed the principle of citizenship, which means establishing a modern democracy state.

Citizens must be aware of the importance of participating in the upcoming presidential elections, which will have positive effects on the entire country.

Most countries in the world follow the democratic process as we follow the elections of developed countries.

Therefore, we, the Egyptian citizens, must appear in a positive and conscious manner because this is reflected in Egypt’s sovereignty and power abroad, strengthens its pillars and boosts its external power in international forums.

The good outcome of the elections and effective participation affects the African environment, considering that Egypt is the capital of Africa, its destination, and the most powerful and organised country.

This proves what President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said, “The stability of Egypt means the stability of the entire Arab region. The Egyptian people are rulers and ruled at the same time”.

Just as the citizen wants to obtain full rights, he must also perform his role and duties towards the nation to the fullest extent, so that the relationship is direct and equal.
