Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said that it is possible to add an area of 100 feddans, affiliated to the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), to the Port Said governorate in response to the manufacturers’ requests to provide new expansions for their factories in the industrial zone in the governorate.

This came during a meeting held on Monday to review the requests of a number of factories’ owners in Port Said governorate, in presence of Local Development Minister Hisham Amna, Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir, Port Said Governor Adel el Ghadban, and Nahed Youssef, the chairperson of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA).

Madbouli explained that the IDA owns an industrial zone stretching over an area of about 350 feddans in the governorate.

He further noted that the industrial zone, affiliated with the governorate, has been fully developed.

The trade minister expressed his ministry’s readiness to back the governorate’s efforts aiming at securing more job opportunities through many industrial projects.

For his part, the governor of Port Said reviewed efforts exerted to develop a number of existing factories in the governorate, including the “Pyramids” Factory Complex for tire and rubber manufacturing.

The factory possesses the machinery, equipment and testing devices that qualify it to produce tires for motorcycles, tricycles, and tuk-tuks, he said. It produced about 3.2 million tires annually, representing 90% of the local market needs, he added.
