Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed El Quseir discussed during a meeting Sunday with Acting Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Masoud Jarallah mechanisms for promoting the organization’s activities, in light of the importance of realizing food security, especially at the current juncture.
During the meeting, the two sides tackled the importance of joint coordination and cooperation to prepare projects that would help serve food security issues, including cultivation of high-quality strategic staples and focusing on projects meant to rationalize irrigation water consumption.
Talks also took up the importance of introducing techniques of modern agriculture mechanisms to reduce waste of crops production, along with improving animal and poultry production and rolling out international organizations’ finance in this respect.
Meantime, the minister referred to the possibility of forming a team from the organization to work with the ministry and its affiliated research institutions, with a view to drawing up an all-out plan that would help serve food security issues.
