CAIRO – The National Wages Council (NWC), under Planning Minister Hala El Said, has decided to increase the minimum wage for private sector workers to EGP3,500 per month, up from the previous EGP3,000, starting from January.
The decision was taken on Friday during the council meeting, which was attended by the ministers of labor, supply and internal trade and social solidarity and a host of respective officials.
The Labor Ministry said in a statement that the council also decided to increase the periodic annual allowance from EGP100 to EGP200.
