Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Ahmed Issa met his Italian counterpart Daniela Santanchè for co-operation talks in Rome. The two ministers discussed ways to increase tourism to Egypt from Italy.

During the meeting, which was attended by Egyptian Ambassador Bassam Radi, Issa reviewed ministry policy to develop the Egyptian tourism industry.

“The Italian market is one of the most important in exporting inbound tourism to Egypt, and the ministry aims to drive more inbound traffic to Egypt during the coming period,” Issa said.

He talked about the supportive measures that the state and the ministry take to support the tour operators and airline companies. Among them are the Aviation Incentive Programme, which the ministry has extended until April 2024, joint marketing campaigns, and organising a series of familiarisation trips to Egyptian tourist destinations.

Issa also met with the representatives from Feder Turismo and officials of firms that wish to invest in Egypt.
During these meetings, the minister heard their proposals for tourism projects in Egypt.

Issa highlighted his ministry’s keenness to encourage tourism investment in Egypt, especially hotels, and to encourage the private sector to establish new hotel investments.

Issa also held meetings with officials from a group of major Italian tour operators working in the Egyptian market.
Issa spoke of the stability of the situation at all Egyptian tourist destinations and of the ministry’s full support for partners in the tourism industry in Egypt, whether at the international or local level.

Issa then held an extensive media meeting at the Egyptian Embassy with representatives of a number of the most important newspapers, news agencies, and Italian television channels, including ANSA, Agenzia Nova, TTG Italia, and Travel Quotidiano, l’Agenzia Di Viaggi, Guida Viaggi, and Il Giornale Del Turismo.
