Egypt, China sign deals to boost civil aviation co-operation

Egypt and China have signed a series of agreements to boost co-operation in the civil aviation sector.

The agreements were signed during a visit to China by Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, who was accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Civil Aviation chaired by Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmi.

One of the agreements Is a framework agreement between Cairo Airport Company and China Energy Group Limited for the development of Cairo Airport Cargo City and Logistics Zones.

EgyptAir Chief Yehia Zakaria signed an agreement with the Chinese side in the present of the civil aviation minister.

 

The agreement calls for China Energy to prepare a proposal for the engineering, procurement, construction, and financing of the project.

Another agreement is a framework agreement between Cairo Airport Company and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) for the development of Cairo International Airport.

The agreement aims to turn Cairo International Airport into a major international hub to accommodate the growing air traffic In the region.

A third agreement is a framework agreement between EgyptAir Holding Company and CSCEC for the construction of a new hangar at Cairo International Airport.

The hangar will be able to accommodate up to 9,000 tonnes of cargo.

Ahmed Mansour, head of the Egyptian Airports Company, signed a deal with China to upgrade Cairo airport.

Madbouly also met with CSCEC Chairman Zhang Xueqiuan to discuss further co-operation In the civil aviation sector.

The agreements are seen as a sign of the growing strategic partnership between Egypt and China.

In a statement, Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation said that the agreements will “boost the development of the civil aviation sector in Egypt and contribute to the growth of the national economy.”

The agreements are also expected to create jobs and boost tourism In Egypt.

The Cairo Airport Cargo City and Logistics Zones project will be located on a 2,000-hectare site adjacent to Cairo International Airport. It is expected to create 100,000 jobs and generate $10 billion in revenue.

At Cairo International Airport, the project will include the construction of a new terminal, a new runway, and a new cargo facility. It is expected to cost $10 billion and take five years to complete.

EgyptAir Hangar 9000 will be located at Cairo International Airport. It is expected to cost $1 billion and take two years to complete.
