The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has recently organised a workshop, via video conference, on the operational steps to start implementing the “Environmental Sustainability Standards Guide”, the Strategic Framework for Green Recovery,” in co-operation with the Ministry of Environment, and the participation of a large number of representatives of the ministries and stakeholders.
During the workshop, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Sai, stressed the importance of taking practical steps to carry out the “Environmental Sustainability Standards Guide”, by spreading the culture of sustainability, and defining mechanisms for monitoring performance indicators for all sectors, to measure progress in the set goal through the implementation of priority projects and activities in the financing, and having a positive impact on the environment, according to a ministry statement.
She added that the Guide is intended to increase public investments directed to green projects from 15 per cent in the 2020/21 plan, to 30 per cent in the FY 2021/22 plan.
The Guide is the outcome of environmental efforts Minister of Environment, Yasmin Fuad, said, explaining that it is considered one of the top and successful green transformation methodologies that Egypt has adopted to achieve sustainable development. It is based on greening the state’s budget plan, she noted.
