ADDIS ABABA – Egyptian Ambassador to Ethiopia Mohamed Omar Gad has chaired a session of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC) – the last under the presidency of Egypt – which tackled the role played by women in the continent, particularly where maintaining peace and security is concerned.
Gad reviewed national efforts to enhance women’s participation in the political and economic life in Egypt, a statement by the Egyptian Embassy here said Tuesday.
He pressed for doubling efforts to further engage women, especially in the wake of the Covid-19 repercussions.
It is also important to boost international partnerships with the AU and among member states with the aim to promote women’s role in Africa, the diplomat urged.
