The head of French Directorate General of External Security, Bernard Emié, praised the great positive impact of the red lines announced by President Sisi regarding the field situation in eastern Libya, which supported the course of negotiations and boosted political efforts to seek a comprehensive solution to the issue
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the importance of regular coordination to boost efforts to combat extremist ideological thought, violence and terrorism as well as to increase pressure on terrorist organisations and groups. He noted that restoring the institutions of countries suffering from crises would achieve security and stability in the rest of the region and confront the surrounding dangers.
The president’s remarks came as he received Wednesday Director of the French Directorate General of External Security Bernard Emié, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, which was attended by Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel, the president stressed the importance Egypt attaches to strengthening strategic co-operation with France in various fields.
For his part, the head of the French intelligence service expressed his country’s pride in the constructive co-operation and close relations with Egypt and stressed France’s keenness to maintain continuous coordination with Egypt on all issues of common interest in the region, especially with regard to developments in the situation in the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean and the African continent regions.
This is based on Egypt’s role as a stabilising pillar for the entire regional security and the effective efforts of President Sisi to support regional security and stability, the French intelligence chief said.
The meeting tackled a number of bilateral co-operation issues at the security and military level, as well as an exchange of views regarding various regional and international issues as part of security and intelligence co-operation between the two countries.
President Sisi and the French intelligence chief discussed efforts to combat the spread of the threat of terrorism and extremist organisations at the regional and international levels.
The head of the French intelligence service has got acquainted with the president’s vision towards developments related to a number of regional issues in the Eastern Mediterranean as well as the situation in Libya.
