Egypt welcomed the Libyan House of Representatives decision to voice confidence in the new unity government Wednesday.
Egypt values the role of the interim government in restoring Libya’s stability, security, and sovereignty to alleviate the suffering of the Libyan people, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Egypt also looks forward to working with the national unity government during the transitional stage and to support its efforts to fulfill its obligations in accordance with the roadmap for a political solution.
“This aims to ensure that elections, which are scheduled for December 2021. take place, and that the outcomes of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission and meetings on its economic recovery are implemented, in order to save Libya from the current conundrum and achieve regional security and stability,” Hafez added.
