GLASGOW – Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad said on Wednesday that the issue of climate change will affect some crops, thus reducing Egypt’s national income.

As a result, Egypt has decided to raise representation at the National Council for Climate Change from the technical to the ministerial level, Fouad told a session organized by FAO, in co-operation with the Chinese and US governments, the Global Environment Facility and the Green Climate Fund.
The new representation will be chaired by the prime minister and will include the ministers of agriculture, electricity, irrigation, planning and finance, she said.
She added that Egypt launched the 2050 national strategy for climate change last week.
