Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government on Wednesday to start relocating some of its offices to the government district in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) as of December and begin a six-month pilot operation.
President Sisi’s directives came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Housing Assem El Gazzar, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassm Radi said.
He added that the meeting included”a review of the executive situation of national projects being carried out by the Ministry of Housing nationwide,especially in the administrative capital, the new cities, as well as roads, roads, utilities and housing projects.”
During the meeting, the president was briefed about the latest developments pertaining to the work on the “Greatest Transfiguration Project over the Land of Peace” in the Sacred Area in Sinai near the Moses and St. Catherine Mountains.
President Sisi directed in this regard that all operational details should be taken into account in line with the status of that sacred spot in the land of Egypt, and that the project be presented to the world in an optimal way; hence its unique spiritual value that stems from being the incubator of the three monotheistic religions.
The progress of work in the New Alamein City and its projects – including the towers, the heritage city, the Latin Quarter, among others – was considered during the meeting, Ambassador Radi said.
The president also followed up on the progress on ongoing projects to develop the historic Cairo area, which aim to restore the civilised face of Cairo, and make it a tourist, recreational and cultural attraction, he added.
During the meeting, Housing Minister al-Gazzar outlined his ministry’s efforts to finalise the projects related to the “Decent Life” initiative across the country, especially in the sectors of sewage, water and treatment plants.
Prime Minister Madbouli, for his part, briefed the President about efforts to develop drainage system in the Delta and the treatment of agriculture drainage water, with the aim of benefiting from water that is discharged into lakes and the Mediterranean. This is part of the state’s strategy to maximise the utilisation of water resources and increase the arable land area.
