A major co-operation protocol was signed on Thursday for the development of information technology (IT) infrastructure at the Ministry of Environment.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended the signing ceremony of the protocol between the ministries of planning and economic development and environment.
The protocol was signed by Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Digital Transformation Ashraf Abdel Hafeez, and Assistant Minister of Environment for Projects Ali Abu Sena, who doubles as Acting Head of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency.
Following the signing ceremony, Minister of Planning Hala el-Saeed said this protocol is part of the state efforts to develop the performance of government and services for planning, following up and monitoring ongoing projects, in addition to coordinating plans of the production and service ministries via formulation of public policies, and programmes to realise such goals.
According to the protocol, the Ministry of Planning will work on developing the information infrastructure at Ministry of Environment. This will include the servers, computers and network in addition to providing technical support for Ministry’s Spatial Data Unit.
This will include the necessary coordination for providing financial allocations to the Ministry of Environment, besides polishing the skills of the ministry’s human resources.
For her part, Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad said that her ministry would offer the spatial data it already owns, as well as future updates to the Ministry of Planning.
In line with the protocol, a higher committee is to be formed and will meet once a month to follow up the implementation of the scheme, project activities and commitments of the involved parties.
