Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and Hungarian Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó affirmed the depth of relations and co-operation between the two countries in various fields.

This came during a joint press conference held by Shoukri and his Hungarian counterpart at the end of their talks in Cairo Tuesday.

Shoukri welcomed the Hungarian trade and foreign minister, who is on a short visit to Cairo and Alexandria as part of the continuation of the close relations between the two countries.

Shoukri said that the discussions focused on ways to strengthen relations in various fields. He added that the two sides signed two agreements to develop agricultural co-operation.

He explained that the visit of the Hungarian minister comes on the occasion of the start of an important project for the supply of 1,300 railway stock for the Egyptian Railways Authority.

For his part, Minister Szijjártó said Hungarian companies would build enormous water pumps in Sinai, and has already handed over 259 railway carriages to Egypt.

He added that there would be an expansion to economic co-operation between Egypt and Hungary, with more railway carriages that would be delivered to Egypt in the next couple of years.

Szijjártó also said Egypt deserves support from Europe and the European Union for its huge efforts for six years to stop illegal immigration to Europe.
