Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Wednesday witnessed the signing ceremony of a co-operation protocol between the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and the governorates of North and South Sinai.

The protocol covers the first electronic offering of development, residential and agricultural complexes through contracting under the ownership system. Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi attended the ceremony.

GAFI chairman Mohamed Abdel Wahab said the complexes include ten development clusters in North Sinai and seven development clusters in South Sinai, pointing out that the opportunity includes 5 feddans (acres) of agricultural facilities and a 200-square metre house under the ownership system.

The offer process will be completely electronic during its various stages: the conditions brochure, the possibility of paying fees, staging a lottery and announcing the results electronically through the website, Abdel Wahab said.

This came within the framework of the authority’s efforts to support and assist the public, and facilitate the application procedures for this proposal, Abdel Wahab said, adding that operations room was established to assist persons during the application process with telephone numbers to communicate with the room.

Those in charge of the process of receiving applications were trained in the governorates of North and South Sinai. Three offices equipped with investor service centers will assist in submitting applications online.
