Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Neveen Gamie, and her Jordanian counterpart, Maha al-Ali, opened on Thursday the 14th Exhibition of Egyptian Products in Jordanian capital Amman.

Thirty-six Egyptian companies are participating in the exhibition which will last until October 2.

The companies participating cover a wide range of industrial activities, including engineering, chemical and food industries, metal industries, leather products, handicrafts and home furniture.

A large number of small and medium-sized manufacturers are also participating in the event.

Minister Gamie said Egypt is keen on strengthening economic ties with Jordan, especially in the fields of trade, industry, investment and transport.

She underscored the importance of putting co-operation mechanisms between the two countries into action through the launch of joint projects that can contribute to increasing economic growth rates in the two countries.

“This exhibition is a successful model for co-operation between our two countries,” Minister Gamie said.

She added that the exhibition is popular among Egyptian manufacturers.

Minister Gamie also said that she is keen on backing joint Egyptian-Jordanian projects, especially those implemented by the private sector in the two countries.

These projects, she said, can bring our two countries closer to economic integration.

She added that Egyptian companies are also eager to gain access into the Jordanian market.

She described this market as a ‘promising’ one and a good window into the markets of neighbouring states, including Iraq, the Palestinian territories and Syria.

Minister Gamie added that the exhibition is also proving popular among Jordanian consumers who have growing confidence in Egyptian products.

Minister al-Ali, for her part, said her country is interested in developing business relations with Egypt in all fields and at all levels.

She highlighted the importance of increasing trade with Cairo along with joint investments.

“These are things that can serve the interests of our two countries,” the Jordanian minister said.

Al-Ali praised the quality of Egyptian products, noting that these products are popular among Jordanians.
