With almost three weeks to go before Expo 2020 Dubai opens, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea checked the final touches to the Egypt pavilion for the event.

Gamea said during a visit on Monday to the pavilion: “Egypt is keen to put on a show worthy of the country’s heavyweight status in the region and internationally.”

The Egyptian pavilion will impress visitors with stunning designs and content, asserting the Egyptian identity, a ministry statement said.

The pavilion offers a glimpse of Egypt’s future with focus on investment opportunities, the minister said.

In addition, it will be the backdrop to investment and trade deals to maximise the economic returns from the Expo, the minister added.

An ancient Egyptian sarcophagus recently discovered at Saqqara would soon arrive for display in the Expo pavilion together with several reproductions of archaeological items, she said.

During her inspection visit, the minister was accompanied by Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE Sherif el-Bedaewi, Executive Director of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Chairman of the Egyptian Commercial Service Ahmed Maghawri, who is also commissioner of the country’s participation at the Expo.

Expo 2020 starts on October 1 and will continue for six months.
