Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri asserted that Egypt attaches great attention to the issue of combating terrorism and extremist ideology, including in the African continent as it represents a common threat to regional and international peace and security.
The Foreign Minister’s remarks came as he participated in a briefing session organized by Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ambassador Hamdy Sanad Loza and Director General of the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding Ambassador Ahmed Abdel Latif to inform the media about the most important features of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development in its second edition, which will be held virtually during the period 1-5 March 2021.
FM Shoukri indicated that Egypt is dealing with this issue at bilateral and multilateral levels through a comprehensive approach that addresses all aspects of terrorism and extremism.
Shoukri said that the forum is a key platform in which African solutions to the challenges facing countries of the continent are discussed, especially in the areas of peace, security and sustainable development.
